Today we are reviewing another one of the new additions to the Funch range of Superfood Healthy Snack premixes – Vanilla & Coconut.

The Vanilla and Coconut protein balls are subtly flavoured with the main ingredients including almond meal, coconut and vanilla pea protein powder. Funch products are made with pea protein isolate which is a 100% vegan protein source. Derived from peas, it is a hypo-allergenic pure protein (lactose and soy free). Pea protein is readily absorbed by the body making it excellent for post-workout muscle recovery. Pea protein is low in carbohydrates and fat. What makes it so great though is that pea protein is released into the body a lot slower than its rivals.

I also made these Vanilla and Coconut balls with some chopped up toasted pecans or walnuts, giving it some great extra crunch. Both pecans and walnuts are a good compliment to this recipe both in taste and because they are high in fibre and antioxidants. They contain omega 3 fatty acids which help lower blood pressure and therefore reduce the risk of heart disease.

Another great option is to try adding a bit of lemon zest for an even stronger but awesome flavour hit.
